Andreas Ibrom is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in biometeorology and ecosystem research. He is based in the Waste, Climate & Monitoring section and holds a teaching position at both DTU and the University of Göttingen, Germany. He serves as Site Principal Investigator for long-term observation sites in the global FLUXNET network and the Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS), and is a member of the ICOS Monitoring System Assembly and ICOS Denmark’s steering committee.
His research spans biometeorology, ecosystem carbon budgets, and industrial ecology. Key areas include long-term micrometeorological measurements using eddy covariance, development of turbulence data post-processing methods, 3D biophysical modeling of canopy processes, and regional greenhouse gas balance assessments. He also investigates nitrogen cycling in forests, life cycle assessment, and ecological network analysis for industrial systems. His interdisciplinary work extends to land-use change impacts in Indonesia and climate change adaptation at local scales.
The recent publication trends highlight his focus on improving eddy covariance measurement accuracy, modeling interannual variability in ecosystem productivity, and advancing scientific methods for greenhouse gas inventory verification. His work integrates field observations, modeling, and policy-relevant applications.

Andreas Ibrom actively supervises PhD students and leads research projects on greenhouse gas monitoring, landfill methane emissions, and carbon dynamics in ecosystems. His projects include Greenhouse gas observation network for Denmark and Monitoring and verification of greenhouse gas fluxes in a Danish rural landscape. He has contributed to numerous collaborative studies involving stable isotopes, UAV-based flux mapping, and model intercomparisons across Europe.
He is involved in a dynamic research network focused on eddy covariance, carbon cycling, and climate change impacts, with collaborations across Europe and beyond. His lab and team work at the forefront of environmental monitoring, combining advanced instrumentation, data analysis, and ecosystem modeling to address pressing climate and sustainability challenges.
