Dr. Tiziano Innocenti is a Visiting Fellow in both the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment and the AMS - Musculoskeletal Health departments at the Faculty of Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in Health Sciences (Meta-research in Rehabilitation) from the same institution, awarded in 2024.
His research focuses on meta-research methodologies, including clinical trial reporting integrity, adherence to research guidelines (e.g., TRIPOD, PRISMA), and systematic review methodologies. Central themes include chronic pain management, rehabilitation engineering, health technology assessment, and musculoskeletal health. Notable contributions address discrepancies in clinical trial protocols, therapeutic quality of exercise interventions, and evidence grading in meta-analyses.
Recent publications highlight work on electroanalgesia for postoperative pain, TRIPOD adherence in clinical prediction models, and GRADE vs. CINeMA concordance in evidence certainty. His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being.
Awards include the 2024 David Sackett Young Investigator Award and Peer Reviewer of the Year Award. His collaborations span international teams addressing low back pain, osteoarthritis, and postoperative pain management. While no formal advisees are listed, his work engages multidisciplinary networks in rehabilitation science and health economics.
Key research outputs emphasize methodological rigor in clinical research, with a focus on improving reporting standards and evidence synthesis practices across rehabilitation disciplines.
