Titas Biswas is a sociologist and media/film scholar affiliated with Carlow College St Patrick’s as a Lecturer in Media Studies. They are a doctoral candidate at University College Dublin (UCD) School of Sociology and a Research Assistant on the Horizon-Europe funded INSPIRE project at University College Cork (UCC). Their interdisciplinary work spans historical sociology, conflict studies, gender politics, and media analysis, with a focus on postcolonial contexts and neofascism in India.
Education includes a BA (Hons) in Sociology from Jadavpur University (2021), an MSc in Comparative Social Change from Trinity College Dublin/UCD (2022), and an ongoing Structured PhD in Sociology at UCD (expected 2026). Teaching expertise includes social psychology, media studies, and memory studies, emphasizing critical pedagogy.
Research interests include body politics, decolonial theory, and the intersection of media with sociopolitical movements. Recent publications analyze colonial discourses in German education, feminist critiques of Hindutva ideology, and the role of cinema in post-humanist mnemonic practices. They frequently present at international conferences such as Historical Materialism and the International Association for Comparative Fascist Studies.
