Prof. Dr. Tine Beneker is a Professor of Geography & Education at Utrecht University's Faculty of Geosciences and currently serves as Vice Dean for Education. Her research focuses on Geography Education Research, emphasizing the interplay between disciplinary knowledge and school curricula. Key interests include future and global dimensions in education, young people's global awareness, and teacher professionalization. She has published extensively on topics such as climate change education, curriculum design, and sustainability pedagogy.
She holds leadership roles including membership in the Dynamics of Youth program committee and the Commission on Geographical Education (IGU). Her awards include the Dutch Higher Education Award (2021) and recognition for contributions to university teaching excellence. She has also served as a lecturer at Fontys Teacher Education and chaired secondary education examination committees.
Her academic contributions span over 50 peer-reviewed publications since 2002, with notable work on teacher pedagogical content knowledge, curriculum leadership, and global citizenship education.
