Tina Faigen is a pianist and educator affiliated with the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University, where she serves as a faculty member in the Preparatory School. She also holds a faculty position in the Piano Division at the University of Pittsburgh. Faigen earned her DMA and MM from the University of Miami under Ivan Davis, and a BA from Oberlin College.
Her professional highlights include over 30 performances of Tchaikovsky’s 3rd Piano Concerto with Miami City Ballet, solo engagements with orchestras such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Edgewood Symphony Orchestra, and chamber collaborations with Catherine Cho and the Orion String Quartet. She is a founding member of the Zaffiro Trio and regularly performs at venues like Carnegie Music Hall and the Steinway Recital Series.
Faigen’s discography includes recordings of Robert Schultz’s works, praised for their "supple dexterity and resonant tone," and she co-authored the Accelerando Piano Technique Series. Since 1992, she has served as principal editor for The Robert Schultz Piano Library. Her teaching career spans over three decades, beginning at age 14, and she currently maintains an active studio.
Awarded the 1989 Pittsburgh Concert Society Majors and a debut tour in Italy, Faigen’s performances are noted for their technical mastery and interpretive depth. She also serves as Principal 2nd Violinist in the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra.
