Timothy McKinney is a Professor of Music Theory at the School of Music, Baylor University. He also serves as the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and previously held administrative roles at the University of Texas at Arlington and Baylor. His research focuses on text/music relationships, the history of music theory, and musical form.
- PhD in Music Theory from the University of North Texas
- Master of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
- Bachelor of Science from William Jewell College
McKinney has published extensively in journals such as Musical Quarterly, Early Music, and Music Theory Spectrum. His recent work includes a critical edition of Girolamo Parabosco’s madrigals and an analysis of Zarlino’s harmonic aesthetics.
