His research focuses on political economy, political sociology, globalization, and development, with a particular emphasis on U.S. imperialism, Latin American politics, and the socio-political dynamics of socialist Venezuela under Hugo Chávez. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Gill has authored and edited books, including Encountering U.S. Empire in Socialist Venezuela (under contract with University of Pittsburgh Press) and The Future of U.S. Empire in the Americas: The Trump Administration and Beyond (Routledge, 2020).
