Timothy Leduc is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Online Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Social Work. His work bridges social work, environmental studies, and Indigenous knowledge systems, focusing on decolonization, climate justice, and land-based healing. He holds a unique interdisciplinary perspective informed by pre-colonial Euro-Canadian (French/Celtic) and Indigenous methodologies.
Research interests include: decolonizing social work practices, Earth-based spirituality, Settler-Indigenous relational frameworks (e.g., French canadien-Haudenosaunee/Wendat interactions), climate change adaptation, and braided approaches to knowledge integration. His writing explores intersections between environmental ethics, settler-colonial histories, and contemporary ecological crises.
Publications span academic journals and creative non-fiction, emphasizing narrative forms to convey ecological urgency. Key themes include mass extinction's spiritual dimensions, Inuit climate dialogues, and pedagogical approaches to environmental justice. His work often critiques Western academic structures while advocating for Indigenous-led knowledge systems.
Teaching emphasizes land-based education and truth-work reconciliation practices. Office located at FSW303, contact via tleduc@wlu.ca or visit his website fallingwithheron.com for full portfolio.
