Timothy Illidge

Professor Timothy Illidge serves as Professor of Targeted Therapy and Oncology at the University of Manchester and holds an Honorary Consultant position in Clinical Oncology at Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. His academic work is centered within the Division of Cancer Sciences, where he leads a multidisciplinary research program focused on the intersection of radiotherapy and cancer immunology.

Professor Illidge's research program investigates how radiotherapy can induce immunogenic changes in tumor cells and recalibrate the tumor microenvironment to enhance anti-cancer immune responses. His work specifically focuses on developing combination strategies that pair radiotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (anti-CTLA-4 and anti-PD-1/PD-L1) to create more effective treatments, particularly for lymphoma and other hematological malignancies. His expertise spans tumor immunology, anti-cancer antibodies, and radiobiology, with emphasis on translating preclinical findings into clinical applications.

His collaborations extend to Professor Mark Travis and Dr. Doug Dyer at the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation.
