Alistair Cook is a Research Fellow at the School of Biomedical Sciences, The University of Western Australia, specializing in cancer immunology and radiotherapy. He earned a PhD in stem cell biology from the University of Edinburgh (2010) and a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Aberdeen (2004).
- Education:
- BSc (Hons), Biochemistry with Industrial Placement, University of Aberdeen (1999-2004)
- PhD, Stem Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh (2004-2010)
His research focuses on improving immunotherapy outcomes for mesothelioma through biomarker discovery and integration with radiotherapy. He has pioneered a program using low-dose radiotherapy to enhance anti-tumor immune responses.
Recent work trends show expertise in tumor hypoxia imaging, PD-L1 dynamics, and computational modeling of radio-immunotherapy synergy. He leads projects like Leveraging Low-Dose Radiotherapy (Tour de Cure) and Imaging PD-L1 Modulation (icare NSW), with 16 grants totaling $23M.
Current projects include:
- Leveraging Low-Dose Radiotherapy to Improve Immunotherapy Outcomes (Tour de Cure, 2025-2026)
- Tracking PD-L1 Modulation Using In Vivo Imaging (icare NSW, 2024-2026)
- Zirconium-89 Antibodies for PD-L1 Imaging (NHMRC, 2024)
He supervises HDR students and collaborates with institutions like the Harry Perkins Institute and NHMRC, contributing to 32 research outputs with an h-index of 13.
