Timothy Gerber is a Professor of Music at The Ohio State University's School of Music. He holds a DMA and MEd from Temple University and a BM from Oberlin College. His research focuses on music teacher education, adolescent musical development, and secondary school arts policy. He has authored influential educational materials, including the textbook Music! Its Role and Importance in Our Lives (4th ed., 2015).

Gerber champions universal music education in middle/high schools, volunteering as a general music teacher in Columbus Public Schools.
