Timothy Edgemon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology & Social Work at Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts. He earned his PhD from the University of Georgia in 2020 and completed a National Institute of Justice Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute (2020-2021).
- Research Focus: Intersections of criminal justice contact and health disparities
- Macro-level structural influences on individual/population health
- Human trafficking-related violence impacts
His current projects investigate:
- Human trafficking victimization in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Prison-level structures affecting mental health of incarcerated women
- Incarceration rates' impact on population-level mental health trends
Published in journals like Society & Mental Health, Social Science & Medicine, and Public Health Reports, Edgemon teaches criminology, juvenile delinquency, sentencing/corrections, statistics, and research methods courses. Office hours available by appointment at the Haley Center.
