Timothy Barron is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Yale University. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from Stony Brook University in 2020, where he worked with Prof. Nick Nikiforakis in the PragSec Lab, and also served as a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and lecturer for CSE 214: Data Structures. Prior to his PhD, he obtained a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut in 2015.
His research focuses on Web Security, Domain Name Security, and Cyber Deception techniques. He has published extensively in top security venues including NDSS'20, AsiaCCS'21, RAID'19, and CCS'17, examining topics such as content security policies, domain deletion patterns, and nameserver vulnerabilities. His work often involves analyzing malicious actor behaviors through honeypot deployments and large-scale domain monitoring.
Barron teaches courses covering computer system security, programming fundamentals, and object-oriented design. Current courses include CPSC 413: Computer System Security (since 2020) and CPSC 327: Object-oriented Programming, with previous teaching roles at Stony Brook University (2019) and industry research internships at IBM Research (2018-2019) and Cigna (2014-2015).
