Tim Willasey-Wilsey is a Visiting Professor at King's College London (since 2020) and former senior British diplomat with 27 years at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He specializes in security studies, conflict resolution, and South Asian geopolitics. He holds an MA in Modern History from the University of St Andrews and completed the Cabinet Office Top Management Programme in 2003.
His research focuses on India-Pakistan relations, nuclear policy, and Ukraine's conflict dynamics. He contributes to journals like RUSI, International Affairs, and Cipher Brief, analyzing topics such as NATO strategy, Taliban engagement, and post-Afghanistan lessons. He was awarded the CMG in 2007 and serves on Chatham House's Council.
Publications emphasize Ukraine's precarious position amid shifting US presidential policies, India-Pakistan nuclear deterrence, and historical parallels like the 1938 Munich Agreement. His book The Spy and the Devil (2025) explores MI6's pre-WWII intelligence efforts. He also teaches at institutions like RUSI, the Norwegian Defence College, and the Policy Centre for the New South in Rabat.
