Tim Soutphommasane is the Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Oxford and a Professor of Practice in Human Rights and Political Theory. He holds a Senior Research Fellow position at Balliol College and a professorial appointment at the University of Sydney. His research focuses on multiculturalism, race relations, patriotism, and human rights. He has authored five books including *On Hate* (2019) and *Don’t Go Back To Where You Came From* (2012). His current work includes an Australian Research Council-funded project on anti-racism ideologies.
Previously, he served as Australia’s Race Discrimination Commissioner (2013–2018), leading national efforts against racial discrimination. He has contributed to major media outlets like the *New York Times* and *BBC*. His academic output spans books, edited volumes, and journal articles addressing topics such as pandemic ethics, leadership during crises, and multicultural policy.
He has held roles in institutional culture strategy at the University of Sydney and advises international organizations on diversity initiatives. His work bridges academic research with public policy, emphasizing societal cohesion and ethical leadership.
