Tim Pahel is a Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities & Chair of the Music Department at Monmouth College. He oversees the Monmouth Chorale and Chamber Choir, teaches music theory, history, and education courses, and coordinates the music education curriculum. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor and Music Coordinator at Carl Sandburg College, and taught at Knox College.
Education:
- B.A. in Music from Lawrence University
- M.S. in Music from University of Illinois
- Ph.D. in Music (Conducting) from University of Iowa
Research & Activities: Specializes in choral conducting, vocal instruction, and music pedagogy. Directs the Galesburg Community Chorus, conducting major works like Verdi’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. Active in professional organizations including the American Choral Directors Association and National Association of Teachers of Singing. Serves as an adjudicator for high school music competitions and provides choral clinics.
Labs/Teams: Leads Monmouth College’s choral ensembles and the Galesburg Community Chorus, fostering collaborative musical experiences for students and community members.
