Jack Ergo is an Associate Professor of Music at Graceland University, serving since 2001. He holds positions as conductor of the Graceland Symphony, Professor of Applied Piano, Organ Instructor, and oversees Piano Proficiency. Additionally, he teaches special topics courses, directs theatre music productions, and sponsors the Jazz Combo and Chess Clubs.

His research interests span early keyboard music, 20th-century music, and community orchestral leadership. Ergo has conducted prestigious ensembles such as the Kansas City Civic Orchestra and the Independence Symphony, now The Heritage Philharmonic. He is renowned for his work with Handel’s Messiah, leading performances globally and at Carnegie Hall. Ergo co-edited hymnals Sing for Peace and Sing A New Song, and produced recordings for these works.

He advises student ensembles and has founded initiatives like the Eastern Jackson County Youth Orchestra and Independence Police Chorus. His career highlights include over 30 years of conducting Messiah sing-alongs and leading international choirs.
Key roles include music director for the Community of Christ Church (1981–2001), founder of the Independence Mayor’s Christmas Concert, and co-founder of the Harmony Choir of Kansas City.
