Tim Neerup Themsen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting, Copenhagen Business School. His research focuses on risk management, project management accounting, and public sector accounting, particularly in large capital investment projects (megaprojects) and the limitations of international best-practice frameworks like the risk matrix.
- Education: PhD in Risk Management in Large Danish Public Capital Investment Programmes (2014), Copenhagen Business School.
His work examines how risk management technologies interact with uncertainties in public projects, leading to behavioral and institutional impacts. Recent studies analyze budgeting practices in Danish megaprojects and the role of internal auditing in public-sector reforms.
Tim teaches management accounting, risk management, and project management across bachelor, master, and executive programs. He supervises students on sociological and critical perspectives in accounting and contributes to public sector research through collaborations with institutions like the Royal Danish Defence College.
