Tim Knowles is a Teaching Professor in the School of Languages, Arts and Societies at University of Sheffield. He specializes in ethnomusicology and participatory performance, with a focus on social theory and material culture in music. His doctoral research (since 2015) examines Sheffield’s public participatory music events (e.g., open mics, folk sessions). He teaches performance and ethnomusicology modules, including 'Foundations of Music' with the Department of Lifelong Learning.
