معرفی
Prof. Dr. Tilmann Kuhn is a faculty member in the Institute for Solid State Theory at the Department of Physics, University of Münster. He leads the AG Kuhn research group, focusing on the theoretical description and simulation of non-equilibrium dynamics in interacting many-body systems in nanostructured materials. His work bridges condensed matter physics, quantum optics, and ultrafast spectroscopy.
His research interests include:
- Charge carrier dynamics in quantum dots and localized semiconductor structures
- Phonon dynamics and exciton-phonon coupling
- Ultrafast optical control and nonlinear spectroscopy (e.g., pump-probe, four-wave mixing)
- Theoretical modeling of single-photon emitters and quantum information systems
- Many-body interactions in nanostructures and 2D materials
His recent publications (2022–2024) emphasize ultrafast quantum control in hBN color centers, phonon-assisted dynamics, moiré exciton-polaritons, and high-harmonic spectroscopy. These works highlight his focus on quantum coherence, phonon engineering, and light-matter interactions in low-dimensional systems, with strong connections to quantum technologies and optoelectronics.
Prof. Kuhn has supervised numerous PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s theses, with recent graduates including Kevin Jürgens, Daniel Groll, and Thilo Hahn. He has received funding from the DFG for multiple projects and is affiliated with the Center for Multiscale Theory and Computation (CMTC) at Münster.
He is actively involved in the research community, as evidenced by organizing the EDISON 22 conference and publishing in high-impact journals such as Optica, Phys. Rev. B, and Nature Photonics.
