PD Dr. Till Markus, LL.M., is Deputy Head of the Department of Environmental and Planning Law at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. He holds a PhD from Bremen University and completed his habilitation there (2014–2020). His academic career includes roles as a Post-Doc at MARUM (2008–2012) and as a PhD student at Bremen University. He serves as Co-Chief Editor of Zeitschrift für Umweltrecht and has led projects such as the Graduate School Global Change in the Marine Realm (GLOMAR) and the Graduate College INTERCOAST. His research focuses on environmental law challenges, climate adaptation, and legal frameworks for sustainable development. Key projects include Herausforderungen für ein zukunftsfähiges Umweltrecht and Thirsty Cities, addressing legal dimensions of water conflicts and carbon neutrality.
