Dr. Tiffany Ana López serves as the Claire Trevor Dean of the Arts and Professor at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Claire Trevor School of the Arts. Previously, she held leadership roles as Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence and Director of the School of Film, Dance and Theater at Arizona State University (ASU). A first-generation college graduate, she earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her B.A. from California State University, Sacramento.
Her research focuses on how communities narrate trauma and violence through art, emphasizing creativity’s role in social transformation. She is a leading dramaturge, collaborating with theaters like Center Theatre Group and Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Her work includes adapting Tomás Rivera’s writings and co-PIing a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant on medical narratives with Dr. Juliet McMullin.
Dr. López is a DEIB advocate, founding the Latina/o Play Project and participating in organizations such as the International Council of Fine Arts Deans and the Latino Theater Alliance. Her awards include the Fulbright Scholar designation (2004) and recognition as a Latina of Influence (2015).
Her grants span Mellon, NEH, and Rockefeller Foundation funding. She has mentored numerous students through programs like the Tomás Rivera Endowed Chair at UC Riverside, prioritizing Latinx initiatives and community engagement.
