Tiff Akins

Tiff Akins is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), serving since 2021. She also directs the School of Health Sciences and Wellness Health Scholars Program. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from UW-Madison (2013), an M.S. from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville (2007), and a B.S. in Biology from UW-Platteville (2005).

Her research focuses on socioeconomic factors impacting rural healthcare access and outcomes, emphasizing actionable solutions for providers and communities. A licensed athletic trainer since 2007, she combines clinical experience with academic leadership.

Active in campus governance, she has served on the Integrated Planning Advisory Council, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Development Board, and Nursing Advisory Board. Community involvement includes roles with the Marshfield Clinic Health System and Wisconsin HOSA Advisory Board. She emphasizes critical thinking in healthcare education, advising students to embrace complexity in medical science.
