Kristen Pickett

Kristen Pickett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Education. Her work focuses on neurological rehabilitation, gait analysis, and telehealth interventions for aging populations and individuals with Parkinson’s disease. She holds a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota (2010) and a BS in Biology from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville (2002).

Her research investigates movement disorders, sensory deficits in Parkinson’s disease, and accessibility of physical activity programs for rural and marginalized communities. Notable projects include telehealth yoga interventions for rural seniors and wearable gait monitoring systems using computer vision. Dr. Pickett collaborates with neurology, engineering, and public health teams to advance occupational therapy practices.

Recent work explores caregiver-patient dyads in exercise programs, autism-related motor challenges, and environmental adaptations for gait rehabilitation. Her publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to address mobility and participation barriers in clinical and community settings.
