معرفی
Tiago André Soares is a Researcher at INESC TEC's Power and Energy Systems Centre and serves as an Assistant Guest Professor at the School of Engineering of Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ISEP/IPP). His work focuses on the intersection of energy systems, market design, and grid optimization within Portugal's academic and research ecosystem.
His educational background includes:
- M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from School of Engineering of Polytechnic Institute of Porto (2013)
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Denmark (2017)
Soares specializes in energy markets, distributed generation, energy resources management, optimization under uncertainty, energy communities, and future power systems. His research addresses critical challenges in the energy transition, particularly focusing on how decentralized energy resources can be effectively integrated into existing grid infrastructure while maintaining economic viability and environmental sustainability. He has contributed significantly to understanding energy communities, virtual power plants, and regulatory frameworks for distributed energy resources.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on renewable energy integration, with particular emphasis on community-based energy systems, hydrogen applications in power systems, and market mechanisms for distributed resources. The research shows an evolving trend toward multi-objective optimization approaches that balance economic, technical, and environmental considerations in energy system design.
Soares actively supervises graduate students at ISEP/IPP, guiding research on hydrogen power plants, energy market strategies, and consumer empowerment through energy communities. His work connects academic research with practical grid applications, particularly through his involvement with the Power and Energy Systems Centre at INESC TEC.
He is affiliated with several professional organizations including IEEE, the Portuguese Engineering Association, and the SMART4GRIDS research group at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), demonstrating his international research collaborations and professional engagement.
