معرفی
Dr. Thomas Willett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on biomaterials, biomechanics, and skeletal tissue mechanics, with particular expertise in bone engineering and 3D-printed biomaterials. He explores applications in orthopaedic and biomedical engineering, including the development of novel biocompatible materials and understanding bone fracture mechanisms. His work bridges clinical needs with advanced manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing of bone-inspired nanocomposites.
Key research interests include collagen degradation in bone, the effects of aging and disease (e.g., diabetes) on bone quality, and improving bone allografts through sterilization methods. He has contributed to studies on drug impacts on bone metastasis and material science innovations for regenerative medicine.
Dr. Willett’s academic affiliations include full-time faculty roles in both the Biomedical Engineering and Systems Design Engineering programs at Waterloo. His research often involves interdisciplinary collaborations and has been published in high-impact journals, with a focus on practical applications in healthcare and engineering.
