Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Weiler has been affiliated with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences since Summer Semester 2020. He holds the Chair of Production-Oriented Lightweight Construction and Machine Tools and teaches in the Master's program in Technical Production Management.

Career Highlights
After completing his Master's, Weiler earned his PhD at RWTH Aachen focusing on laser-assisted tape laying. He worked as a scientific assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT), led groups at the Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Construction (AZL), and later joined the startup Conbility to develop lightweight construction machinery. He also served as a consultant at AZL Aachen GmbH, a network of over 90 lightweight construction companies. Weiler emphasizes student engagement through his regular digital office hours.
