Thomas Stewart is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. He trained at Stanford University School of Medicine (MD 1968) and completed residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (1972), followed by a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (1973). Board-certified in Psychiatry since 1975, his clinical and research interests focus on the intersection of mental health with physical health, including depression's impact on cardiovascular outcomes, metabolic effects of atypical neuroleptics, and adjustment to spinal cord injuries.
His research activities include studies on depression post-myocardial infarction and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Professional involvement includes leadership in the Connecticut Psychiatric Society (1999-2000). He maintains clinical roles at Yale New Haven Hospital, emphasizing consultation-liaison psychiatry.
