Thomas Schlöglhofer is a biomedical engineer at the Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering and VAD coordinator at the Division of Cardiac Surgery, Medical University of Vienna. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Technical University of Vienna (2008). His research focuses on optimizing mechanical cardiac support systems for user-friendliness and safety, alongside implementing algorithms to enhance care for ventricular assist device (VAD) outpatients. In 2016, he received the Helmut Reul Young Investigator Award for his work demonstrating that standardized telephone interventions significantly improved VAD patient survival and reduced hospital stays. He currently serves as President of the International Consortium of Circulatory Assist Clinicians.
Collaborations include working with Heinrich Schima’s research group and the Ludwig Boltzmann Cluster for Cardiovascular Research. His studies emphasize clinical outcomes, telemonitoring, and algorithm-driven patient management in cardiovascular support technologies.
