Professor Thomas Schanze is a distinguished faculty member at the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM) with dual specializations in Biomedical Engineering and Smart Grids/Energy Technology. He holds multiple leadership positions including Program Director for the Master's Program in Biomedical Engineering and heads both the Electrical Energy Technology working group and the Institute for Biomedical Engineering.
His research spans two interdisciplinary domains:
- Biomedical Engineering: Biosignals processing, neuroprosthetics development, systems theory, and control engineering applications
- Energy Systems: Smart grid optimization, electrical network planning, and energy storage solutions
Professor Schanze maintains significant professional engagements including:
- Membership in THM Senate and Doctoral Centre for Engineering Sciences
- Advisory roles in VDE/DGBMT and DKE technical committees
- Leadership of two TransMIT applied research projects
He actively supervises doctoral candidates through the PZI doctoral program in engineering sciences.
