Thomas Richard Fleming is a Professor of Biostatistics and Statistics at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health. He holds dual appointments in the Department of Biostatistics and the Department of Statistics. His research focuses on clinical trial methodology, survival analysis, sequential analysis, and applications in HIV/AIDS and cancer research. Dr. Fleming has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles and served as a leader on over 100 clinical trials, including pivotal studies like HIVNET 012 and HPTN 052. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and recipient of the 2020 Ward Cates Spirit Award for contributions to HIV prevention research. His work emphasizes rigorous statistical design and ethical oversight of clinical trials.
