Thomas Paster is an Associate Professor at Roskilde University's Department of Social Sciences and Business, affiliated with the Danish Center for Welfare Studies. His work focuses on business-politics relations, welfare states, industrial relations, and corporate taxation. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute (2009) and a European Integration Studies diploma from the Institute for Advanced Studies (2004).
Research interests include transnational corporate tax regulation, inheritance tax abolition, and state support for collective bargaining. He employs qualitative methods like comparative case studies and historical analysis. Current projects involve collaborations with Michael B. Klitgaard, Dennie Oude Nijhuis, and Max Kiecker.
Teaching includes MA International Politics and Governance, and BA International Bachelor programs at Roskilde University, covering comparative political economy, business-politics relations, and EU politics. He co-chairs the Council for European Studies' Business in Politics and Society network and serves on VELNET and Marie Curie Alumni Association boards.
Recent research outputs (2023-2025) analyze EU minimum wage directives, corporate tax governance, and Scandinavian labor policies. Awards include the Erwin Wenzl Award (2010) and Outstanding Supervisor Award (2021). External roles include Marie Skłodowska Curie Fellow (2016-2018) and Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute (2009-2014).
Key collaborations span European institutions and focus on transnational labor policies and welfare state dynamics. His work contributes to UN SDGs related to decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).
