Thomas Parisini is a Professor and Chair in Industrial Control at Imperial College London's Faculty of Engineering, leading the Control and Power Research Group. He also holds the Danieli Endowed Chair of Automation Engineering at the University of Trieste. With a Laurea (Cum Laude) from the University of Genoa (1988) and a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science (1993), he has extensive experience in academia and research leadership, including roles as Deputy Rector at the University of Trieste (2009-2012) and President of the IEEE Control Systems Society (2021-2022).
His research focuses on control systems for large-scale critical infrastructures, including smart grids, transportation networks, and industrial process control. Notable contributions include over 400 publications and prestigious awards like the 2018 Honorary Doctorate from Aalborg University and the 2007 IEEE Distinguished Member Award. He has secured major grants, including the H2020 Flagship Teaming Project KIOS (€40M).
Parisini has held editorial roles for top journals such as the European Journal of Control and the IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, and chaired major conferences like the 2022 European Control Conference. He is a Fellow of both the IEEE and IFAC, reflecting his impactful contributions to control systems and engineering education.
