Thomas N.T. Sutton serves as an Adjunct Professor at Queen's University Faculty of Law since 2012, teaching Trial Advocacy and Medical Malpractice, and as a Sessional Instructor at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law since 2022 for Remedies courses. He concurrently leads McCarthy Tétrault LLP's National Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group as Practice Group Leader with over 25 years of complex litigation experience.
His educational background includes law degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Windsor. Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1998 and Prince Edward Island Bar in 2018, he maintains active legal practice alongside academic roles.
Professor Sutton's research centers on litigation innovation, particularly medical malpractice defense and technology's impact on legal proceedings. He pioneered e-Discovery systems and virtual arbitration solutions during the pandemic, authoring influential works on virtual advocacy ethics. His scholarship bridges theoretical legal education with high-stakes courtroom practice.
