Thomas Mannel

Prof. Dr. Thomas Mannel is a full Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Siegen, Faculty of Science and Technology. He has held the professorship for theoretical particle physics since 2003 and is actively engaged in leading national and collaborative research initiatives.

His research focuses on the phenomenology of elementary particles, particularly heavy quarks such as bottom and charm quarks. He has made significant contributions through the development of effective quantum field theories, advancing the field of quark-flavor physics. Mannel is co-spokesperson of the Transregional Collaborative Research Center 'Phenomenological Elementary Particle Physics after the Higgs Discovery' and contributes to the 'Color Meets Flavor' Cluster of Excellence proposal involving the Universities of Bonn, Dortmund, and Siegen, and the Jülich Research Center.

He will be awarded the prestigious Erwin Schrödinger Visiting Professorship 2025 in Vienna, where he will deliver a series of lectures and seek to foster scientific collaboration between young researchers in Siegen and Vienna.
