Dr. Thomas Magor is a Lecturer in Marketing (Teaching Focused) at the School of Business, University of Queensland. He holds a PhD in structural choice modeling from UQ Business School and previously worked as a behavioral economist at the Japanese International Cooperation Agency Research Institute (JICA-RI) in Tokyo. His research focuses on consumer decision-making, behavioral decision theory, and applications to sustainable travel, public transport, and technology adoption. He has published in journals like Journal of Choice Modelling and Annals of Tourism Research, and contributed to white papers on digital service transformation. Currently, he leads the development of the new business analytics major in the Bachelor of Advanced Business (Honours) program.
Education: PhD in Business (2018), Honours in Marketing (2012), both from UQ Business School.
Research Interests: Behavioral economics, consumer behavior modeling, sustainable tourism, public transport decision-making, and the impact of technology on consumer choices. His work bridges theoretical models with real-world applications in health (telerehabilitation), tourism, and transport sectors.
Professional Contributions: Authored/co-authored 15+ peer-reviewed articles, contributed to international conferences in Japan, USA, and Australia. His recent work explores virtual influencers in tourism marketing, post-pandemic cruise travel behavior, and preference heterogeneity in consumer choices.
Teaching Focus: Develops curricula for emerging fields like business analytics, emphasizing practical application of choice modeling and decision science in business contexts.
