معرفی
Dr. Thomas Lagace is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a cross-appointed member of the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Ottawa. He serves as Director of the Lipoprotein Receptor Biology Laboratory at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, where he leads research on cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating cholesterol homeostasis and plasma LDL levels.
Education:
- PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2004), Dalhousie University
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)
Research Interests: Dr. Lagace investigates how LDL receptor regulation, PCSK9 function, and cholesterol/phospholipid trafficking influence cardiovascular disease risk. His work focuses on molecular chaperoning, receptor degradation pathways, and lipid-protein interactions.
Publication Trends: His research spans LDL receptor biology, PCSK9 mechanisms, and phospholipid dynamics, with recent emphasis on therapeutic targets for cholesterol-lowering and molecular pathways in receptor degradation.
Scientific Awards:
- Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Fellowship
- Canadian Institutes of Health Research Fellowship
Laboratory and Collaborations: The Lipoprotein Receptor Biology Laboratory, part of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, includes staff like Research Assistant Tanja Francetic and Graduate Student Samantha Sarkar.
