Thomas J Meade serves as the Eileen M. Foell Professor of Cancer Research and Professor of Chemistry, Molecular Biosciences, Neurobiology & Physiology, and Radiology at Northwestern University, while directing the Center for Advanced Molecular Imaging.
His research program integrates bioinorganic coordination chemistry with biomedical applications, specializing in biological molecular imaging techniques, transcription factor inhibitors for therapeutic development, and electronic biosensors enabling precise DNA and protein detection. This work builds upon his prior innovations at Caltech and the Beckman Institute where he pioneered bioactivated MR probes and handheld DNA diagnostic chips.
As Center Director, he leads interdisciplinary teams advancing molecular imaging technologies for cancer research and diagnostic applications, focusing on translating chemical innovations into clinical tools through cross-departmental collaboration.
