Thomas Huber

Thomas Huber is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Information Systems, Department of Information Engineering, University of Bern. His career spans roles such as Postdoctoral Researcher (2013–present), Guest Researcher at Case Western Reserve University (2015), and Visiting Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh (2012). He earned his Dr.rer.oec doctorate from the University of Bern in 2013 and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim (2009).

Huber’s research focuses on the governance and control of inter-organizational software development. Key areas include dynamic formal control mechanisms, the interplay between contractual and relational governance, power dynamics in platform ecosystems, and challenges in agile offshore development. His work integrates theoretical frameworks like Actor-Network Theory and the Theory of Convention.

He has contributed to journals such as the Information Systems Journal and Journal of Management Information Systems, with recent publications on platform ecosystems and control drift in software outsourcing. Huber actively participates in academic communities as an Associate Editor for ECIS and ICIS, and as a reviewer for leading IS journals.
