Thomas Houston

Thomas Houston is an Adjunct Professor in the Division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science at UMass Chan Medical School. He holds additional affiliations with the Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology program. His research integrates health informatics, communication science, and behavioral interventions.

Education: Dr. Houston earned a BS in Biology from Wake Forest University and MD from Bowman Gray School of Medicine.

Research Focus: Develops and evaluates digital health interventions for smoking cessation and chronic disease management. Recent work includes machine learning-based motivational systems for disadvantaged smokers and mobile health interventions for global populations. His research examines how digital tools can bridge healthcare disparities and improve health behaviors.

Implementation Science: Focuses on translating evidence-based interventions into clinical practice through technology-assisted implementation strategies.
