Prof. Dr. Thomas Hanke is Director of the Seminar for Fundamental Philosophical Questions in Theology at the University of Münster's Faculty of Catholic Theology. He holds a habilitation from Goethe University Frankfurt and has taught at institutions like the University of Cambridge and Erfurt. His research focuses on modern philosophy (Kant, Hegel), Cambridge Platonists, and the philosophy of religion. Notable projects include editing Kant's 'Religion within the Limits of Reason Alone' and leading the Görres Society's philosophy section.
Educated in Frankfurt, Münster, and Rome, he earned a licentiate in theology and philosophy. Ordained as a priest in 2006, he later transitioned to academia, becoming a full professor in 2023. Awards include the Sybille Hahne Prize (2011) for his Hegel dissertation.
His teaching spans philosophy of religion, epistemology, and history of philosophy. Recent publications include studies on Brandom's metaphysics, Kant's religion philosophy, and Hegel's early works. Active in academic organizations like the Kant Society and Hegel Association, he organizes conferences on topics like Kant's evil theory and Hegelian freedom concepts.
