Thomas Grischek

Prof. Thomas Grischek is a Professor of Water Sciences at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences, affiliated with the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Since 2003, he has held this academic position and served as Dean of Study Affairs for the Diploma Programme in Civil Engineering from 2015 to 2021. His career began as a machine operator and evolved through academic and professional roles, including a PhD in Water Engineering from TU Dresden and research roles at TU Dresden’s Institute for Groundwater Management and Institute for Water Chemistry. He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz and a master craftsman trainer in hydraulic construction.

His research focuses on riverbank filtration, managed aquifer recharge, groundwater flow modeling, and water treatment technologies, with projects in Germany, India, Russia, Egypt, Thailand, Brazil, and Vietnam. He has contributed to over 100 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 18, 1,950+ citations) and actively reviews for journals such as Hydrogeology Journal and Journal of Hydrology.
