Faten Jarraya Horriche

Faten Jarraya Horriche is a researcher at the Centre for Water Research and Technologies (CERTE) in Tunisia and president of the Tunisian National Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH). With over three decades of experience, she specializes in groundwater resource management and hydrogeological modeling in Tunisia's complex aquifer systems.

Her educational foundation includes:

• Senior engineering project on Sebkhat El Melah salt reserves at the National School for Engineers of Tunis (ENIT) in 1987
• Diploma of Deep Studies in applied mechanics of fluids and thermal transfers from the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis (FST) in 1995
• Ph.D. from ENIT in 2004 analyzing national groundwater level networks

Dr. Horriche's research integrates computational modeling with field studies to address critical challenges including multi-layered aquifer systems, seawater intrusion, and sustainable groundwater management in arid regions. Her work bridges scientific analysis with national water policy development through extensive collaboration with Tunisia's General Direction of Water Resources (DGRE).

As co-chair of the 2019 AGIC2019 international congress, she demonstrated leadership in advancing hydrogeological science across 15 countries. Her technical approach relies on MODFLOW for groundwater simulation alongside GIS tools for spatial analysis of aquifer dynamics.

Dr. Horriche actively mentors students through CERTE's Georesources Research Laboratory (LGR) while advocating for international collaboration to address Tunisia's groundwater challenges. Her vision includes establishing a pilot laboratory for experimental groundwater processes to support next-generation water management solutions.
