Stein Brunvand is a Professor of Educational Technology and Interim Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Digital Learning at the University of Michigan-Dearborn within the College of Education, Health, and Human Services. He holds a Ph.D. in Learning Technologies from the University of Michigan (2005) and has been active in faculty roles since 2005.

His research focuses on educational technology integration, including gamification, e-portfolio implementation, and online learning accessibility. He has explored how scaffolds in video analysis impact teacher training and examined research-based professional development for K-12 educators. His recent publications emphasize gamified teaching methods and digital presence in online education.
Scientific contributions include peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on topics like "Gamification 101" (2022) and "Using Social Bookmarking to Make Online Resources More Accessible" (2011). His 2013 Global Teaching Grant supported international videoconferencing projects, and he received the 2008 SITE Outstanding Paper Award for his work on classroom gamification.
As an educator, Brunvand teaches courses such as EDT 210: Technology in the Elementary Classroom, EDT 402: Survey of Educational Technology Tools, and EDT 531: Leadership and Professional Development in Educational Technology. He has also developed gamified curricula for the instructional technology program and served on multiple doctoral committees. His 2017 presentation at the Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education Conference explored accessible coding instruction, reflecting his ongoing commitment to inclusive educational technology.
