California Institute of Technology (Caltech)معرفی
Thomas Greene serves as a Research Professor of Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology and holds the position of Executive Director of the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC). He completed his academic foundation with a B.A. from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1982 followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1991. His current affiliation with Caltech is indicated as beginning in 2025.
Dr. Greene's research expertise centers on infrared astronomy, with particular specialization in exoplanet detection and stellar formation processes. His work involves developing sophisticated data analysis techniques essential for interpreting observations from space-based infrared telescopes, which reveal celestial objects obscured in visible light. This research contributes significantly to our understanding of planetary system formation and evolution.
As Executive Director of IPAC, he leads critical data processing operations for major NASA missions including the Spitzer Space Telescope and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer. His leadership ensures the astronomical community has access to properly calibrated data that enables groundbreaking discoveries about our universe through infrared observations.
