Thomas Glardon is an Instructor of Engineering Management at the Civil Engineer School, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He has held this position since February 2011. Previously, he served in various roles across military engineering and leadership, including as Director of the Engineering Management Department at AFIT (2005–2008) and Public Service Director for the City of Kettering, Ohio (2008–2011).
Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame (1986), a Master of Science in Engineering Management from AFIT (1990), and advanced military education such as the Air War College (2003) and Army War College (2005). He holds certifications as a Professional Engineer (Ohio, Florida, Wyoming) and Tri-Service Certified Cost Engineer.
His teaching focuses on cost engineering and project management, including courses like WENG 400 (Life Cycle Cost Estimating) and WENG 500 (Cost Engineering). His expertise spans cost estimating, project programming, and infrastructure management, with extensive experience in Air Force civil engineering operations and contingency planning.
Thomas has led numerous projects and teams across U.S. and international bases, including roles in Guam, RAF Lakenheath (UK), and the Federated States of Micronesia. His work emphasizes resilience, cybersecurity for critical infrastructure, and leadership in tactical civil engineering units.
