Dr. Thomas Gamboa serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of University Bands at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Peck School of the Arts, where he oversees all band programs and directs the Wind Ensemble (the university's premier wind band), New Music Ensemble, and University Community Band.
His educational credentials include:
- DMA in Band Conducting from the University of Michigan
- MM in Band Conducting from Northwestern University
- BA in Music Education and Bassoon Performance from UCLA
His research focuses on wind conducting pedagogy, inclusive wind band repertoire, and music education innovation. He has contributed to scholarly publications like the WASBE Journal and the anthology "The Horizon Leans Forward", examining underrepresented communities in wind band fields. His creative work spans recording production with Klavier Records and international guest conducting engagements.
As an educator, he mentors graduate wind conducting students, supervises music education interns, and serves as Head Instructor for United Spirit Association drum major camps. He chairs the Conducting Curriculum Team, designing training programs for instructors nationwide.
Dr. Gamboa leads the Wind Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, and University Community Band at UW-Milwaukee, maintaining active collaborations with professional ensembles including the West Point Band.
