معرفی
Thomas Chouvenc is an Associate Professor in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of Florida/IFAS Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center (Davie, FL). His work focuses on urban entomology, particularly the biology, ecology, and control of termites and invasive ants.
Research Interests:
Dr. Chouvenc investigates the evolution of insect societies, termite-ant interactions, and invasive species dynamics, with a focus on Formosan subterranean termites and Alluaud’s little yellow ants. His research informs termite identification services, pest management protocols, and ecological monitoring in Florida.
Publications & Findings:
His recent work highlights termite species distribution patterns, colony foraging behavior, and management strategies for invasive ants. Articles emphasize the economic impact of termites, cryptic infestation detection, and novel control methods such as chitin synthesis inhibitor baits.
Labs & Teams:
Dr. Chouvenc leads the UF/IFAS termite research team and contributes to the University of Florida Termite Collection. He organizes professional training programs like the UF/IFAS School of Structural Fumigation and the International Termite Course.
