Dr. Rebecca Baldwin is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of Florida (UF/IFAS Extension). Her work focuses on urban and agricultural pest management, chemical ecology, and pesticide safety education.
Her research spans insect behavior, subsocial dynamics (e.g., horned passalus beetles), invasive species (e.g., tawny crazy ants), and defensive mechanisms in peridomestic pests like the Florida woods cockroach. She co-authored 15 recent publications on these topics, emphasizing practical IPM strategies and outreach tools.
Key trends in her publications include the development of DIY pest control methods (bed bug interceptors), characterization of invasive ant biology, and pesticide safety training materials with QR code video integrations. She collaborates extensively with Philip Koehler, Roberto Pereira, and other UF/IFAS researchers.
