Therí Pickens is the Charles A. Dana Professor of English and affiliated with Africana Studies at Bates College. Her expertise spans African American and Arab American literatures, disability studies, black feminism, and cultural theory. She has authored two scholarly books: Black Madness :: Mad Blackness (2019) and New Body Politics (2014). Her public scholarship appears in Ms. Magazine, The Root, and Medium, alongside a recent debut poetry collection celebrated in campus events and media outlets. Professor Pickens’ research interrogates intersections of race, gender, disability, and narrative forms.
